BERNARD ICHNIOWSKI Obituary
Casey was born in Baltimore, MD on September 27, 1955, to Casimir Thaddeus and Felice Marie (Wassell) Ichniowski. He grew up in Towson, MD; attended Harvard College (BA 1977) and the Sloan School of Management at MIT (MBA 1981, PhD 1983). He was a distinguished economist who spent his professional career at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, which he joined in 1984 and where, in 1995, he was appointed the Carson Family Professor of Business. He excelled in all aspects as a seminal contributor to the field of labor relations, an admired Chair of the Management Division, a devoted teacher, and a superb colleague.
Casey is remembered for his giant heart, his good humor, and his vast knowledge of things important and trivial. He loved sports as an athlete (shortstop), fan (Brooks Robinson and the Os), and soccer coach. His family was his highest priority and greatest joy.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Matthias Church, Bala Cynwyd, PA on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. Interment immediately follow-ing at West Laurel Hill Cemetery. Gifts in his memory should be directed to the Casey Ichniowski Memorial Fund at Columbia College. Arrs. by

Professor Casey Ichniowski as I knew him--my favorite professor at Columbia Business School, from where I graduated in 1998. I just found out that he is no more. An even-keeled, understated, extremely smart and thoughtful individual. I have very pleasant memories of him. I am truly saddened. My deepest condolences to his loved ones.

I attended Maryvale Lower School with Casey. I lost touch with my grade school friends when my family moved. I found this notice while reflecting on my days at Maryvale 50+ years ago. Casey was a wonderful smart person then and was that way till the end.

What a tremendous man with a tremendous heart. He taught my daughter how to work hard and play hard. He leaves a legacy of soccer players that will take what they learned from Casey into the rest of their lives. Our whole family is so grateful for all that he gave to us. He will be missed by many.

I was so sorry to hear about Casey. I attended Maryvale Lower School with him. He was such a bright, accomplished, and devoted person. His passing is a great loss to his family and friends. I extend my condolences to the Ichniowski family.

My memories of Bernard ( Casey) are very fond. He was a such a warm intelligent person that even after 44 years I feel saddened at his passing. My condolences to the Ichniowski family..

I always remember Casey from grade school at Maryvale. He was always the smartest one in the class. He was also as nice as he was smart. I am so sorry to hear about his loss.

I remember Casey as a smart & friendly student at Loyola High School. Had not seen him in 41 years but he certainly continued a full educational & family life.I was touched by his obituary & good memories.My condolences to his wife & children.
