Edward McKelvey Obituary

McKELVEY
EDWARD J., passed away peacefully at Keystone Hospice Home on Sun. Sept. 12, 2004. Edward was born on July 13, 1912 in Phila., PA; the son of the late Edward and Katherine McKelvey. He was preceded in death by his wife Peg. Edward graduated from West Catholic High School. He was a long time employee of the City of Phila., retiring as Manager of the Delinquent Tax Department. Edward was a member of the Centerl City YMCA for well over 60 years religiously exercising 3 days a week until into his 90's. He is survived by his daughter, Judith (Raymond) Mullen and his son Edward (Jacqueline) McKelvey, 5 grandchildren including Ray and Tara Mullen, Edward Jansen (Lora) McKelvey, Erin (Pete) Schueller and Meredith McKelvey; he is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Frances and Payton Schueller and Michael and William McKelvey, and his niece Patricia Haberman (Arthur). Edward loved his family, the Big Bands sounds, playing bridge with friends, researching and investing in securities and life long physical exercise. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Edward on Fri. Sept. 24, at 11 A.M. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 212 Welsh Rd., Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Friends and family may visit at the Church from 10 A.M. until the time of Service. Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be forwarded in memory of Edward to Keystone Hospice Home,, 8765 Stenton Ave, Wyndmoor, PA 19038. Edward's family would like to thank the staff of Keystone Hospice Home for the respect and wonderful care Edward received. Condolences may be made online at:
