Margherita Maria Pichugin

1924 - 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom Margherita, known to many as "Auntie Marge". Predeceased in 1979 by her loving son Dean and in 2001 by her husband Peter. Marge will be missed by her loving son John (Susan) and step grandson Zachary, her nephews and nieces Mike (Debbie), Ron, Marty (Debbie), Carol (Gary), Jerry (Helen), Mila, Tania (Toshi) and their families, and many relatives and friends. Margherita was born in Casacalenda Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1935, settling in Straiton (Abbotsford) with her sister Dorina, father Peter and mother Josephine. She met Peter in high school and married in 1946. Marge loved her vegetable and flower gardens, Viennese waltzes, dancing, sewing, crocheting, being a stay at home mom to Dean and John and actively participating in her faith at church. Her specialty was her Italian pasta dinners on Sunday evening with the family where no one went home without some homemade cookies, homemade jam or leftovers. Marge and Peter had a wonderful retirement gardening, travelling to Hawaii with close friends Al and Helen Wozny, and enjoying many friendships along the way. Special thanks to June Parlee, who Marge loved like a daughter, Kay Carlson, Heather Matson, Darlene Wozny, and to Laurie and her caregivers who provided love, support and comfort for the past 3 years. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday November 28th at 11:00 AM at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Abbotsford. Interment at Hazelwood Cemetery. Reception following the service. No flowers by request. Donations to the Alzheimer Society Canada or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Just for Today I will be unafraid. Especially, I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give to me.
