Nancy Elizabeth Alice O’Connor

Nancy O'Connor (Rice), mother of long-time Poway resident, Tim O'Connor, passed away peacefully in Rancho Bernardo, CA, on September 24, 2013. Born on May 23, 1924, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, Nancy lived a rich and fulfilling life that spanned the Great Depression, World War II, the Civil Rights Movement, and other historical highlights that characterize the times related to "The Greatest Generation." She had a happy childhood with her family and friends in Lethbridge and her beloved Waterton Lakes National Park. In 1950, while working in Louisiana, she met the love of her life and future husband, John Thomas O'Connor, a young lieutenant in the US Air Force. They married, began a family, and traveled the world as a U.S. military family.
Nancy was a devout Catholic who believed strongly in the beauty and sanctity of life. Her life was filled with grace, kindness, and humor, and she had an uncanny knack for making people smile and feel good about themselves.
A funeral mass was held at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Poway on September 30, 2013, followed by a private service at Miramar National Cemetery.
