Sgt. Walt and my dad, Alvin E Harris, first connected in WWII supporting each other through many trials and tribulations. He had the utmost respect from my Dad and they were able to form a strong lifelong friendship. It was my honor to meet him and Dot to become a friend even after my Dad passed in 2004. A hero. A loving husband and father. He was so proud of his family and cherished his time with them. He is gone but never forgotten. I will miss our phone calls. Rest In Peace good and faithful servant. You will be missed. Dave and Jodi

My Dad and Sgt Walt first connected in WWII forming a lifelong friendship. My Dad had the utmost respect for him and was honored to be able to promote him to First Sergeant at the end of the war. It was a privilege to me to be able to meet him and get to know him better even after my Dad passed in 2004. An honorable man who loved his dear wife Dot and family so much. A true hero. A man of honor. A loving and devoted father. God rest your soul. You will be missed but not forgotten. Dave and Jodi Harris

When my dad worked night work, I would sit with my face pressed against the living room window waiting for him to come home. I couldn't sleep until I knew he was there with us. As a little girl I would sit on his lap, and he would scratch my arms for me (only he knows what this is about), never once impatient or complaining.
Dad, I'm missing our morning calls and you saying 'How's my girl?' and 'What can I do for you?'. It's hard looking at your apartment and everything boxed up. It's too final.
What words do I say to a dad who loved me so much? Maybe just a simple: I love you, Dad!

Grandpop was always in a good mood, always had a smile on his face and was always ready to tell another WWII or PGW story. I'll never forget the first time we stopped by Grandpop's new place at Holy Redeemer. His fridge was filled with diet soda and light beer. It was like he was a teenager again. And when we walked the halls with him, everyone knew his name. Grandpop, you'll were loved, and will be missed, by, well, to paraphrase you, more people than you can shake a stick at.

Grandpop you are missed already. Thank you for being a wonderful grandfather, and always being happy and excited to hear from me. Elliot is lucky he got to know his great grandpop! I remember all the sleepovers, the swing out back, grandmom's cheese, your eggs and toast, when I swallowed the marble, the plum tree - and of course My first dog-love, Pandy and her race track out back.
I love you and Grandmom.

Grandpop, I can still hear you saying to me, Well, hell-o, Gorgeous! and en how! among many other Grandpop-isms. You're already incredibly missed, but I am happy you're back with Grandmom and some of your wartime buddies as well. Your stories will live on through all of us grandchildren, and I look forward to passing them on to Brooklyn and Reese. Your character is the best example of why your generation was termed The Great Generation. Rest In Peace, knowing how much you were loved as a result of the impact you had on so many of our lives. Love, Blair
