Gary D. Buyssens

1947 - 2024

Gary D. Buyssens, of Tawas City, and Pinehurst, N.C., loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 77, following a brief illness.
The son of the late Joseph and Mable (Volz) Buyssens, Gary was born on April 25, 1947 in Saginaw. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie.
Gary was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School and he attended Delta College. He married Janice Carter in 1968, she survives him. Spending the majority of their time at Lake Huron, they shared 55 wonderful years together, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Gary spent 25 years at Carter Management in Saginaw as a retailer where he managed the Carter Shop, Betty's of Winnetka, Short Cut Petites, and was a women's ready-to-wear buyer.
When Gary and Janice moved to Tawas, he began working as a real estate broker and owned Lake and Country Realty. Additionally, Gary was a builder and he designed and constructed four homes in the Tawas area.
In the winter, he and Janice would travel to their home in Pinehurst, N.C. where they enjoyed the time they spent with their family, neighbors, and friends. In his free time Gary enjoyed golfing, riding in his golf cart, mahogany Chris-Craft boats, and M.G. cars. He was also an avid wood carver.
Also surviving him are his four sons, Ryan and Molly, Aaron and Susan, Evan and Kerri, and Spencer Buyssens; seven wonderful grandchildren whom Gary loved very much: Gracious, Amien, Maximus, Phoebe, Magnolia, Harper, and Carter; and many friends.
Honoring the wishes of Gary and his family, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the family cottage at noon on Aug. 3.
Those wishing to make a donation in honor of Gary may consider memorials to: St. Jude's and Shriners Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., Saginaw.
