BEAUFORT, South Carolina - Ronald Bridges, 72, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away on February 16, 2024, with his family by his side.

Born to Marilyn and Russell Bridges on May 22, 1951, in Frostburg, Maryland, Ron graduated from Mount Savage High School in June 1969. During his active duty with the Marine Corps, he completed a Bachelor's Degree at Wayland Baptist University and a Master's Degree at Webster University.

A proud veteran, Ron served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps for 23 years, achieving the rank of Captain. His dedicated service earned him numerous commendations, reflecting his unwavering commitment to duty and sacrifice. Following retirement from the Marine Corps, Ron entered civilian life, working for Beaufort County Government in Records Management, then as Office Manager for Bootle Air Systems Inc. and Martin Landscape Inc.

Ron served his community through the Rotary Club of the Lowcountry for nearly 25 years, including more than ten years as club secretary. Whether it was "hands-on" work or helping organize an event, he was always among the first to volunteer for all service projects and was recognized twice as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation.

Ron was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Linda Lepley Bridges, and a loving father to his children, Eric and Jennifer, and daughters-in-law Amy Bridges and Hilary Langford.

In addition to his parents, Ron is predeceased by brothers Samuel and Roger and sister Coleen. He is survived by brothers, Cecil (Doris), Russell (Shirley), Donald (Anna), John (Maria), and James (Teddie); grandchildren, Lydia Grae Bridges, Chelsea Lettich (Michael) and Cameron Sheffield (Rachel); six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Sea Island Presbyterian Church on Monday, February 26, at 10:00 a.m.; a memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. USMC military honors will be rendered at noon at Beaufort National Cemetery, where Ron will be honored for his courageous service and remembered with gratitude and respect.

Ron's legacy of service, love of family, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Child Abuse Prevention Association (PO Box 531, Beaufort, SC 29901.)

Linda, the times we spent at your house with you and Ron and sometimes Jen and Eric and Lydia having pool parties and the Friday Nite Gang´s having dinner together every Friday night have left me with wonderful memories. One of my favorite stories that Ron told, and there were many, was when someone in his office told him that he was looking out of the window and there were legs coming from under his vehicle and he said" Oh don´t worry about it, it is my wife, she is fixing it." I will always have a special place in my heart for Ron and because I have been where you are going don´t hesitate to call if you ever need anything that I can help with. I love your family
