James Strong Obituary

James Strong, 62

1960 - 2023

Monroe, NC - James "Jim" Strong of Monroe, North Carolina, formerly of Lynn, Massachusetts, passed away on July 6, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a lengthy illness. He was married to Diane (Angelli) Strong for 37 years.

Jim was born in Lynn on September 14, 1960 to Barbara Strong and the late Frank Strong. James was a graduate of Lynn Tech and spent much of his life in Lynn before moving to North Carolina.

Jim was a master mechanic who could rebuild any engine. He worked in HVAC for over 30 years for both John's Oil and Stocker Oil.

Jim was passionate about his hobbies. If he had a hobby, he put all his efforts into that, especially if it helped someone else. He was kind and giving and was first in line to help anyone. He loved spending time with his family on his farm and working in his garden. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida and going on cruises with his wife.

He is survived by his loving wife Diane of Monroe, North Carolina, and his 3 children; Brian Strong and wife Courtney of Naples, Florida, Thomas Strong and wife Stacey of Lynn, and Danielle Cheever and husband Corey of Boxford, seven grandchildren; Samuel Strong, Carter Cheever, Olivia Strong, Brooklyn Cheever, Madlyn Strong, Luca Cheever, and Gavin Strong, his siblings; Rick Strong and wife Debbie, Michael Strong, and Frank Strong and wife Julie. He is predeceased by his father Frank Strong.

I watched Jim pick up a Us flag that was all dirty laying on the ground. He cleaned it off and folded it. He would talk about the constitution to me. I loved that guy. A true patriot. My he rest in peace.

I met Jim in the neighborhood when I first worked at John's Oil in 1980.When he came to work,he immediately left his mark as the ultimate team player and superb technition who could fabricate and fix anything. When he settled in Monroe,he would always call me in Summerville,SC to be sure we were ok when severe weather hit the Carolinas.A great friend will be sorely missed.
