Peabody - Kevin G. Goggin, 68, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at his home surrounded by his family and attentive care from Care Dimensions following a hard-fought battle with bile duct cancer. He was the devoted husband of Robin (Kleros) Goggin with whom he shared over 36 years of marriage.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late David J. Goggin and late Marie (Dennesen), and stepmother Teasie Riley Goggin.
He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School, class of 1973. He has lived in Peabody for the past 30 years.
Kevin enlisted with the United States Air Force in 1975 at the end of the Vietnam War.
He then studied at the Franklin Institute and received his associate degree. Starting in the construction field and as his career evolved, he became certified in several trades, including ICC/CABO Certified Building Official, MA Certified Building Commissioner, MA Licensed Construction Supervisor, MA Licensed Master Electrician and MA Licensed Real Estate Broker. He retired as Building Commissioner for the city of Peabody.
Kevin was larger than life. He loved traveling, especially cruising and meeting new people. He was always ready at a moment's notice to help anyone in need.
Besides his loving wife, Kevin is survived by his sons, Jason Mineo-Goggin (mother Susan Mineo) and his wife Jenny Yandell of Danvers and Gia Goggin of Peabody; his daughter Nicole Goggin of Peabody; his beloved grandchildren, Ellie and Eric Yandell; grand-dogs, Henri and Mollie; his brothers, David J Goggin III and his wife Joanne of Ellicott City, MD, and Mark Goggin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his sisters, Mary Ann Murray and her late husband Arthur of Lynn, and Lisa Goggin Charette of Salem.
Service Information:
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
