US Navy veteran, mechanicSALEM - Richard C. "Doc" McGlone, Sr., age 72 beloved husband of the late Joanne M. "Toby" (Ronan) McGlone died Tuesday morning in Salem Hospital.He was born, raised and educated in Royal Oak, Michigan. Following his gradation from High School, Mr. McGlone entered the United States Navy and proudly served the country during the Korean War.As a young man, Doc met the love of his life, Joanne "Toby" (Ronan) McGlone while roller skating at the Wonderland Ballroom in Revere. They later married, began a family and raised five children. For over 35 years he was employed at Holden Oil in Peabody. His career began as mechanic and continued until he retired as the General Manager of the Holden Oil garage.He enjoyed being with his family and friends and was a Life Member of the A.O.H. Division 18 in Salem where he had served the Board of Directors for many years. An avid golfer Doc was also a member of the A.O.H Golf League.Son of the late Julia M. (Howe) McGlone, he is survived by five children Richard C. McGlone and his wife Carolyn of Peabody, Randall S. McGlone of Lynn, Russell C. McGlone and Robin C., McGlone both of Salem and Robert S. McGlone and his wife Jackie of Peabody; two sisters Charlene Emmons and Barbara Ziemba of Michigan; 10 grandchildren Kari, Michelle, Russell Jr. Eric, Kristen, Lauren, Sean, Ryan, Kyle, and Amber and one great grandchild Faith Lee and several nieces and nephews.Service Information: His funeral will be held on Friday March 7 at 12:15 p.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (Cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. in St. James Church 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
