Margaret Elaine (Susie) Seeger

Margaret Elaine (Susie) Seeger, a resident of Hillcrest in La Verne, CA, died Sunday, September 17, 2017. Susie was born in Baltimore, MD on October 31,1932, to John Howard and Helen Catherine Burke Borleis. Susie was a 1948 graduate of Baltimore's all-girls Eastern High School, and completed 3 years at Towson State College. She married Charles Edward (Chuck) Seeger (USN Capt, Ret., deceased) on June 6, 1952, and began her lifelong journey as a Navy wife, moving between east and west coasts. Chuck's last Navy tour of duty at General Dynamics meant a move to Claremont, CA in 1973. They moved to La Verne in the 1980s, and then "retired" to Bremerton, WA in 1995. They "re-retired" to Beaumont, CA, and finally to Hillcrest Retirement Community in La Verne in 2012. In 1988, Susie graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BA in Gerontology. She established her business, Lamb Enterprises, helping seniors. On March 11, 1984, Susie was installed as the first Parish Visitor at Pilgrim Congregational Church, Pomona, which was featured in the Progress Bulletin. While living at Hillcrest, Susie assisted the Chaplain with visitation. .
Susie was a Past President of Claremont Chapter BB, PEO, and joined PEO at Hillcrest. She was on the original committee that formed what is today's Claremont Village Venture, a former member of Claremont Welcome Wagon, and a member of the Assistance League of Pomona Valley. She was a member of the US Naval Academy Foundation and the Navy League, contributing over 1,500 hours involving personal counseling. She established the first parochial educational classes and school at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Annapolis, MD in 1968. Susie and Chuck were active church members wherever they moved. She loved to bake and cook, and helped publish cookbooks for many organizations.
Susie is survived by her 3 children, Susan Selters (Ben) of Claremont, CA, Kate Myers (Ron) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Chuck Seeger (Leanne) of Thousand Oaks, CA. She is survived by grandchildren, Joshua Seeger (Ang), Cole Seeger, Curtis Seeger, Clark Selters (Elizabeth), Charlotte Selters, Brittany Carpenter (Kent), 2 great-granddaughters, Lexi and Riley Seeger, and soon to be great-grandson Jake Seeger.
