She had a love for gardening, growing the most beautiful flower gardens each year.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Thome PACE for their love and care for Dorothy over the past several years, especially over the past week. Also, a heart-felt thank you to the staff at the John Ganton's Countryside Courts, Grand and Brightside for their love and care for Dorothy over the last several years, especially through her last days.
The staff of both organizations were "family" to Dorothy, and her family will forever be grateful to all of them.
Per her request, cremation has taken place. A service will be held this spring at Lansing Avenue Baptist Church, Jackson, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Thome PACE, 2282 Springport Road, Jackson, MI 49201, or to The Salvation Army, 806 E. Pearl Street, Jackson, MI 49201.

One of my earliest memories of Dorothy and Hugh was at the house on Pulaski Rd playing with the sheep behind the garage. My mom always said that Dorothy was the best neighbor she ever had. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.

Dorothy and Hugh were a big part of our life. Hugh sheared our sheep for years and Dorothy and Hugh quilted the quilt on my bed. He taught me a lot as a young girl about sheep and he taught my daughter how to shear. They will both be remembered every time I look at my quilt.
They will both be greatly missed.
We will keep her family in our thoughts and prayers.
