Irmgard Norwood Obituary
Irmgard (Irma) M. Norwood, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 2:42 pm at her home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.
Irma was born January 5, 1939 in Breslau, Germany to the late Paul W. and Martha M. Marsch. She married Cecil (Gene) Norwood on September 11, 1959 in Baumholder, Germany where Gene was stationed in the Army. They later moved to Lafayette, IN. Gene passed away on May 13, 2009.
Irma worked as a school bus driver for TSC for 10 years and later worked at Hooks/CVS Drug Stores for 19 years serving several years as store manager on US 231 south.
Irma was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going to auctions, having garage sales, playing golf, bowling, playing games with family, cooking and gardening. She also loved riding her red scooter and going to fall festivals. She enjoyed traveling and activities with her daughter Lizet and granddaughter Hanna. She especially enjoyed her trip back to Germany and traveling through Europe with her daughter Vicki and daughter-in-law Jenifer. She also loved her dogs Abby and Bella.
Surviving are her daughters Vicki J. Norwood (Jenifer Aschenbrener) and Lizet R. Norwood-Miller; her granddaughter Hanna I. Miller; a brother Paul H. Marsch (Betty) and a sister Helga Zettelmeissl.
Irma was preceded in death by three sisters, Christa Bartsch, Edith Murphy and Margot Smith.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with Pastor David French officiating. Burial will follow at Farmers Institute Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute in Irma's name to St. James Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society. Dear Norwood girls. I am so sorry to here of your moms passing. I have so many nice memories of her from golf and couples dinners in my earlier days. She was a very nice and fun person to be around. Take comfort that this is only so-long for a while as you will meet again someday. Dore Evans

I met Irma when I was in elementary school,her daughter Vicki and I had become friends. We played sports together and I would go stay the night. I always felt like family when I was there. Vicki, Lizet, and Hannah you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I was able to meet Irma through a bowling league many years ago. After that we would run into each other at various places. She would always strike up a conversation. Such a very pleasant person. Very sorry of your loss. May God be wth you.

Irma gave me one of the greatest gifts I have ever received....one of my best friends from childhood who is still in my life, Lizet! I will always remember the times I spent at the Norwood house as a girl and as a young adult. Lizet, Hanna, and Vicki, stay strong because you know that's what your mother and grandma would want you to do. And Irma, tell Gene I'll see him someday to fix him a Coke in one the "big" glasses! Love to you all!

Aunt Irma will always hold a special place in our hearts. She was loved by us both. Ladies we are so sorry for your loss. We will see her again in "fifty years"!
