Richard "Dick" W. Estes

ATTICA — Richard "Dick" Wheeler Estes, 84, Attica, passed away at the Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at 12:00 a.m.

Dick was born in Fowler, IN, on August 25, 1929. He was the son of the late Arch Wheeler and Maude Belle (Gregory ) Estes. He was raised and educated in Benton County, graduating from Freeland Park High School in 1947. Dick worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica for 37 years, retiring in April of 1998. While working at Harrison Steel he was in quality control working as a radiographer.

Dick served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of the Attica Free Methodist Church. He was an avid Indiana University Sports fan and enjoyed reading.

Dick first married Anna Jean (Oakley) Haynes on July 9, 1960 in Attica. She preceded him in death on September 16, 1982. On March 13, 1989, Dick married Cleata Isabelle (Hancock) Holtkamp in Gatlinburg, TN. Isabelle preceded him in death on December 23, 2008.

Dick leaves behind six children, Jerry (Margie) Cripe, Indianapolis; Greg (Tess) Estes, San Diego, CA; Steve (Kris) Estes, Attica; Troy (Maria) Estes, Colfax, IN; Vickie (Mike) Switzer, Rockville and Keith (Sissy) Haynes, West Lafayette; four step children, Larry Halverson, Tampa, FL; Rick (Jackie) Holtkamp and Ron Holtkamp, both of Attica; Debbie (Corey) Rooks, California; 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Edgar Minier, Boswell; He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathie Haynes and two sisters, Athene Giulie and Hazel Minier.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday, Sept. 28th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Free Methodist Church.

To all of Dick and Anna Jeans kids and families, I'm so sorry I won't be able to attend as I will be in Alabama but my thoughts and prayers will be with all of you!! He can rest in peace now with the rest of his family in heaven. God Bless You All!!

uncle Richard I will miss you so much you always had that smile on your face. and always had a good heart .. now that the good lord has called you home you will be with family they will be there will open arm's and you know grandma Oakley will have the beef and noodles ready along with her custard pie to share oh by the way bet you dad is there waiting with a cold one to share with you ! so give them all hug's for me and a kiss and tell them I love them all ! rest in peace now that you are home with loved one's !*
