ANN ADAMKIEWICZ Obituary

ANN ADAMKIEWICZ BELLEVILLE Ann Adamkiewicz, 81 entered into Heaven, Friday, April 16, 2010. Born in Pottstown, PA to the late Isadore and Frances (nee Matakas) Svetoka; she was raised in Tenafly, lived in Jersey City, and has resided in Belleville with her son Joseph and his family since 2002. Mrs. Adamkiewicz, along with her late husband Charles, owned and operated Charlie's Tavern in Jersey City from 1954 to 1982. She also worked for the Hudson County Office on Aging, where she was awarded the Senior of the Year by the Governor of New Jersey. She was a member of two senior citizen clubs and was a volunteer for the Nutley Thrift Shop and Holy Family Church's Annual Festival in Nutley. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at the Megaro Memorial Home; Interment; Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington; Visitation, Monday, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Adamkiewicz is survived by her sons, Charles Adamkiewicz and his wife Laurie of Wall Township, Jeffrey Adamkiewicz of Jersey City, Joseph Adamkiewicz and his wife Michele of Belleville; grandchildren, who she was 'Nanny' to, Kyle 19, Keith 16, Danielle 16; niece Mary Francis; and great-niece Colleen Teresa of New City, NY. Along with her husband Charles she was predeceased by her brother Joseph Svetoka. Mrs. Adankiewicz will always be remembered for her kind, pleasant demeanor, and making those around her laugh and smile. Her passions were reading, supporting animal rights, and sports. She was an avid Giants and Mets fan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FACES (Finding A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures), 223 E. 34th Street, NYC, NY 10016.
