PARAGOULD - Mary Jean Poe, 80, of Paragould, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2023. She was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Walcott, to Buford and Lucille Diggs.
Mary worked at MF Block for many years before her retirement. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Mary will be remembered by many for her musical talent. She sang with The Golden Tones and later The Poes. Singing at churches, Bible conferences, conventions and functions around the country, even performing on the Grand Ole Opry three times, were fond memories Mary cherished. Mary was a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sam Poe, and brother, Jim Diggs.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Kim and Tim Wilkins, Gary and Deanna Poe, Mark and Alisa Poe and Sammy and Allison Poe; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Nan Diggs; sister-in-law, Becky Diggs; grandchildren, Lindsey McBride (Andrew), David Mitchell (Lexie), Landon Mitchell, Jimmy Poe (Kalyn), Brittany Hurst (Chris Stoverink), Shelby Burns (Trenton), Sabrina Poe, Lauren Poe, Matty Poe, Mason Poe and Maxx Poe; and great-grandchildren, Lane McBride, Luke McBride, Asher McBride, Eli McBride, Briley Poe, Houston Poe, Kinsley Poe, Paislee Burns, Jaxson Burns, Brentley Hurst, Finn Stoverink and River Michael Mitchell.
The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home with Dave White, Mark Poe and Ryan Putnam officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
Pallbearers will be David Mitchell, Landon Mitchell, Tim Latham, Jimmy Poe, Andrew McBride and Spence Latham.
Honorary pallbearers will include Phillip Greer, Jeff Block, Cliff Carter, Kirk Cupp and Charlton Cupp.
