Ronald Weingardt Obituary
Ronald "Ron" Weingardt, 80, passed away Nov. 27, 2022 at his home in Sterling. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sat. Dec. 3, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Sterling, with a rosary at 9:00 a.m. and Mass following at 9:30 a.m., Father Michael Bodzioch celebrant. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery. Ronald was born January 19, 1942 in Sterling, CO to Marie (Shank) and John S. Weingardt. He attended elementary through high school in Julesburg, CO. He graduated from Julesburg High School in 1960. He worked for Sedgwick County Road & Bridge until 1970, then a short time with Colorado Dept. of Transportation, and then made his career at McAtee Paving Company from the early 70's until his retirement. Early in his tenure there, he was promoted to general manager in the company. He attended and completed many construction service seminars throughout his career. After retirement, Ron became a consultant and installed fuel storage systems for small Colorado airports and did road grader and bull dozer work for friends with farms and feedlots. He was a Lifetime member of Sterling Elks Lodge. Ron was presented the Colorado Construction Pioneer Award on Feb. 5, 2010, by Colorado Contractors Association, Inc. He was also involved with Colorado Asphalt Paving Association for many years. Ron married Janet Larsen in 1963 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Julesburg, CO. They have been married for 59 years. Ron loved fishing at Grand Lake with family and friends. He enjoyed golfing, deep sea fishing, vacations, cruises, traveling, and coffee with friends on weekday mornings at J & L. Ron's grandchildren and great granddaughter were a special delight to him. He attended many of the boys baseball games. Ron's faith was in God. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Parishes of Julesburg and Sterling, baptism to death. Ron is survived by his wife Janet Weingardt, Son Michael Weingardt and wife Lynda of Sterling and sons Dalton Scott of Marietta GA and Justin Scott of Laramie WY. Son David Weingardt and sweetheart Jody of Lakewood CO; grandchildren Melissa Weingardt of Sterling, CO, Kyle Weingardt of Loveland, CO, and Garrett Weingardt of Lakewood, CO; great granddaughter Kacey Briggs of Sterling, CO. Sisters in-law, Joyce Macht, Judy (Larry) Sherwood, brother in-law Jeff (Susan) Larsen. Nephews and nieces, Scott and Tim Annable and families, Keith Larsen and Kristie Neugebauer and families. Ron was preceded in death by his parents John and Marie Weingardt; sister Beverly Annable; daughter Marcy Muench; grandson Kaymen Weingardt.
