Dana Harmon Obituary
Dana was born on Aug. 15, 1935, in Presque Isle, Maine, son of the late Floyd B. and Gladys (Doak) Harmon and had resided in Manchester since 1964. He was a veteran of the US Army having served overseas in Germany. Dana was employed for more than 35 years with the Coca-Cola Company in East Hartford, retiring as District Manager in 2001. He was a Communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester. Dana was a member of the Army & Navy Club, the East Hartford Men's Club and B.P.O.E #1893 in Manchester. He was an avid golfer, which became his passion later in life.
Besides his wife Fran, he is survived by his three daughters, Donna Dooman, Susan Harmon, and Pamela Willis and her husband Timothy Willis; his two sons, Dana Harmon Jr. and David Harmon; five loving grandchildren, Matthew Dooman, Lauren Dooman, Samantha Harmon, Jamie Harmon, and Joshua Willis. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Harmon and Elizabeth Harmon; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his four brothers, Floyd Jr., Fredrick, Jasper, and Gary Harmon.
Dana's family is very thankful for the care provided by Dr. Michael Reale and his staff throughout his 11-year battle with multiple myeloma.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.
The family asks people to go directly to the church for the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester, CT 06042 or to the ECHN Foundation, 71 Haynes St., Manchester, CT 06040 for the benefit of the John DeQuattro Community Cancer Center.
