Ellsworth H. Cobb, aka, Lee, 89, of Enfield, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021.
He was born June 19, 1932, in Brattleboro, Vermont to the late Bertha (Akley) and Samuel Cobb. Lee proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home from active duty, he married the love of his life, Sheila (Sheehan) Cobb. They settled in Enfield, and together raised three children. He had a longtime career in trucking and worked at St. Johnsbury Trucking Company out of West Springfield, until his retirement. During his time at St. Johnsbury, he earned an award for a "A Million Miles without an Accident." He was a kind, compassionate, and caring man. He was always quick to help anyone in need, whether he knew them, or they were complete strangers. He was an avid fisherman and loved going on fishing excursions with his close friends Noel and Duke always returning with a great tale to tell. He was actively involved with his family including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was always there for his family, whether it was picking up a child, giving someone a ride, babysitting or as he did this past summer, help move to a new house. He loved his family and would do anything for any of them.
He is survived by three children, Anthony Cobb and his fiancée, Jill of Delaware, John Cobb of Missouri and Jennifer Briggs and her husband, Jim of East Granby; five beloved grandchildren, Amanda (Cobb) Wyrick and her husband, Mike; Alex Cobb; Stephanie (Briggs) Penna and her husband Michael; William, and Rachel Briggs; three great-grandchildren, Kaileigh, Jordan and Arlo; his brother Ernest Cobb and his wife, Carleen of California; a sister-in-law Jeanne Cobb of Jamaica, Vermont; a sister-in-law, Mary MacDonald of Enfield; a sister-in-law Joan MacDonald. He is also survived by his beloved dog Bella, his faithful friend and companion. He was predeceased by his wife Sheila in 2019 after 64 years of marriage; his daughter-in-law Sheila Cobb; his brother William Cobb; his brother-in-law and good friend George MacDonald; his brother-in-law Robert MacDonald; and his great-nephew William Moryto.
Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.
A Funeral Home memorial service will take place Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at 11 a.m., burial will follow at Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield.
