Margaret F. Barberie

Margaret F. Barberie, 82, of Enfield, beloved wife of John Barberie, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Born on April 29, 1938, in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius R. and Elizabeth (Lonergan) Foley and grew up in Manchester before moving to Enfield in 1961. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the St. Francis School of Nursing and enjoyed a long career as a Registered Nurse for St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. In her leisure time, she enjoyed spending many hours in the summer at Misquamicut Beach.

In 1961 she married John on her 23rd birthday and they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage. Although nursing and the beach were two passions she enjoyed, nothing could compare to the love she had for her family; spending precious time with her husband, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids was the light of her life. A devoted wife, loving mother, grammy, great-grammy, friend, and nurse, she will be missed by so many lives that she touched.

Besides her husband John of Enfield, she leaves four loving daughters, Norine Barberie of Springfield, Trish Callahan and her husband, Carl of Enfield, Ellen Sidway and her husband, Kyle of Enfield, and Katy Forstell and her husband, Eric of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, and Timothy Callahan, Karlene and Nicholas Sidway, and Cameron and Hannah Forstell; and four great-grandchildren, Madeline, Penelope, Benjamin, and Kadon.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, with a funeral service taking place at 4 p.m. Burial will be private for the family.
