Vincent R. Metallo

1935 - 2021

Vincent R. Metallo, 85, of Suffield, passed away peacefully Sept. 14, 2021, at The Suffield House.

Vincent was born on Nov. 21, 1935, in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Congetta Branca Metallo and Vincent Metallo. Vincent was a barber for over 30 years and owned several barbershops in Washington, D.C., a few blocks from the White House. After moving to Connecticut, he worked as a salesman for G. Fox in Trumbull and then for J.C. Penney in Enfield. After retiring from that profession, he went on to work part-time at Southern Auto Auction. His love of music and singing enriched his life. As a member of the George Washington University Traveling Troubadours, the group made trips to entertain troops in Greenland and Newfoundland, as well as other bases. However, the highlight of his singing career was performing at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. After moving to Suffield, he became part of the choir at Sacred Heart Church as well as a member of the Tapestry Singers, performing at various nursing homes, which included The Suffield House.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Kay; as well as his daughter, Stephanie and her husband, Jack Silva; and his beautiful and loving grandchildren, Reagan and Chace. He also leaves a brother, Leonard and his wife, Patricia Metallo of Arvada, Colorado; as well as nieces, Terry Metallo, Michelle Bagnal, Christy Metallo and nephew Leonard Jr. Metallo.

Family and friends may gather on Monday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 5:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Suffield.
