He married Virginia Cannova on December 27, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Jim served in the Air Force from 1953-1957, during which he was stationed in Seoul, Korea. He joined his father and brothers in the family business, "Krogull's Freeport Cash Meat Market," upon his return from service. Jim joined his brother, Don in real estate, opening "Krogull-Mercier Realtors," with Vern Mercier in 1980. He was an active member of the community and a member of Olympic Investors and a charter member of the Lincoln-Douglas Kiwanis Club, where he was honored with the George F. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being outdoors. Jim was a loyal Bears and Cubs fan, having attended Game 3 of the 2016 World Series in Chicago. He saw his last Cubs game, a win, at Wrigley Field on June 11. Jim is survived by his wife, Virginia; five children, Jeffrey (Ann) of Freeport, Douglas (Debra) of Lena, Kurtis (Stacie) of Overland Park, KS, Bradley (Cheryl) of Burlington, IA, and Beth Ann (Bill) Dorman of Freeport; 14 grandchildren, Shannon (Brian), Brittani (Shawn), Peter, Blake (fiancée, Stephanie), Michael, Casey, Logan, Matthew, Andrew, Claire, Patrick, Christopher, Aaron and Jonathan; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Corban, Levi and Ella Joy; sister-in-law, Betty (Charlie) Luecke; and many nieces and nephews.
