Judith "Judy" Lyons Harless

Judith "Judy" Lyons Harless, 91, of Vinton, VA, was called to her Heavenly home on Monday, April 28, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. Her gentle spirit and loving nature touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed.

Preceding her in death were her devoted husband of 53 years, Richard Harless; her parents, Robert and Mary Lyons; brothers, Bobby, Jimmy, and Steve Lyons; sisters, Ann Cannaday and Lois McBride; sisters-in-law, Dean Goggin and Esther Holdren-Adcox; mother-in-law, Eva Morris; and her lifelong best friend, Nancy Tingler.

Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Known for her warm hospitality, she welcomed everyone into her home with open arms, sharing delicious food, drinks, and heartfelt fellowship. She treasured spending time with family and friends, whether at her beloved Smith Mountain Lake home or during annual beach trips. Her caring spirit was a core part of who she was-always ready to help others and make the world brighter through her kindness.

A lifelong member of Penn Forest Christian Church (formerly Piney Grove Christian Church), Judy's faith was an integral part of her life.

She leaves behind her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Diane Harless; grandchildren, Michael, Bradley, and Catie; great-grandson, Easton Mathis; her sister and lifelong best friend, Nancy Custer; her lifelong friend, Jimmy Tingler; along with many other cherished family members and friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassionate care, as well as to the team at Our Lady of the Valley Rehab. They also thank all who visited, prayed, and supported Judy and her family during her final weeks.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Tim Thompson officiating.
