Earl Steinke, Mayor of Springwood Lane, kind, caring, funny, honest, forthright and honorable. He was intelligent but never pushy, interested but never put his agenda above others. Earl was a very special man who always made you feel special whenever you were with him. We miss him!

Barb Baldwin.....my best thoughts to you and your family....I had no idea about your Dad, what an amazing man and to think the F16's flying yesterday that I found so amazing in it's own rights was for your Dad, well, it makes it even more beautiful to me. ALSO Barb, there was a message in Facebook yesterday re someone finding a debit and/or credit card with the name of Baldwin in Waterford, I wrote down their name and tried to call you however the number was disconnected and I have no way to reach you, please call me if you or anyone in your family lost theirs. Again, what a wonderful life and my thanks/admiration for what he accomplished. Ann Thuot

On behalf of the 440th Alumni Association, I wish to extend our condolences to the family of Col. Steinke who was admired and respected by so many at the 440th Wing. Personally, I was fortunate to be on Col. Steinke's aircrew on several missions to Alaska in the 1960's on the C119 Flying Boxcar. He will long be remembered.
