Leone Dawson Obituary

RACINE - Leone M. Dawson, 90, passed away at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. Leone was born in Racine on March 13, 1917, to Albert C. and Barbara A. (nee: Honecker) Dawson. She had been employed by J.I. Case for over 43 years. Leone was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. She was also a member of the J.I. Case Retirees, Racine Zoological Society, St. Catherine's Alumni Association, and was an avid Cub's fan. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Margaret (Dennis O'Hair) Bosanko, Rusty (Jean Rutter-Smith) Smith, John C. Dawson, Barbara J. (Dave Toms) Dawson, Mark A. (Pam) Dawson, Robin G. (Michelle) Dawson, and Debra (John) Peterson; great-nieces and great-nephews, Dean (Gina) Bosanko, Angela (Scott) Stewart, Gary (Christine) Wesley, Troy Dawson, Kyle Dawson, Travis Dawson, Christopher Peterson, and Kayla Peterson; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Jordan Bosanko and Sierra Laster. Leone was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary and Bob Bolender, Florence and Russell G. Smith; and brother and sister-in-law, Albert C. and Carol Dawson; and her beloved dog, Sandy Joe. The Mass of Christian Burial for Leone will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church on Monday, May 14, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Fr. William Burkert. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorials may be directed to St. Lucy Catholic Church, St. Catherine's Alumni Association, or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center and Hospice Alliance for all of their care and compassion for Leone.
