Marjorie Wheeler Obituary
RACINE - Marjorie Kathryn (nee: Baldwin) Wheeler, 87, passed away Thursday evening, June 8, 2006, at the Washington Manor Nursing Home in Kenosha. Mrs. Wheeler was born in Plymouth on August 30, 1918, to the late William Mead and Mary Ann (nee: Nelson) Baldwin. She was united in marriage to Richard Wheeler in Racine on February 17, 1943, and he preceded her in death in Kenosha on October 20, 2000. Mrs. Wheeler attended McKinley Middle School and was a June 29, 1937, graduate of Washington Park High School. While being a student at Washington Park, she was a member of the GPA, she was a cashier for the SCA, refereed baseball at Park High, and had a vocational interest in beauty culture. She took courses at the University of Wisconsin-Racine and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, travel, gardening, cooking, Bible Study; and most of all, enjoyed her family. She was a Den Mother for the Brownies in the 1950's and her special interests were canning, listening to music, playing badminton, sewing, and was a member of a bowling league at Paradise Lanes West. Mrs. Wheeler was a cancer survivor. Over the years, Mrs. Wheeler had been employed by the Hamilton Beach Corporation, American Television and Appliance, Mohr-Jones Hardware Company, and by Washington Park High School. Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her two sons, Dennis and Dale Wheeler, both of Racine; one son-in-law, Gary Masik of Racine; three grandchildren, Nathan Masik, Elizabeth Masik, and Annalisa Masik, all of Racine; one niece, Laurie Bass of Lodi; one great-nephew, Christopher; and one great-niece, Andrea. Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her daughter, Denna Masik on May 19, 1998, in Wauwatosa; and by her sister, Rhoda Dadian on July 2, 2005, in Racine. Funeral services will be held in the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon, June 15, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at the crypts at West Lawn Memorial Park.
