Joseph Frinzi Obituary

Frinzi, Joseph L. Entered Eternal Life on April 29, 2014, at the age of 95. Resident of the Milwaukee Catholic Home. Beloved son of the late Giuseppe and Rosalia (nee Armao) Frinzi. Loving husband for 63 years of the late Patricia A. Frinzi (nee Dufek). Cherished father of Joseph (Kathleen) Frinzi, Patrice (Michael Sikes) Frinzi, Linda (Robert) Bluhm, Laurie (Jeffrey) Sedlmeier, Martin (Julie) Frinzi, and John (Laura) Frinzi. Proud grandfather of Lisa, Christy (fiancé, Brian Higgins), and Maribeth Frinzi, and Anna (David) Kraus; Amy (Patrick) Cheever, Sara (Charles) Hall, and Maria (David) Dlobik; Allen (fiancée Sara Baxter) and Nina Sedlmeier; Isabella Frinzi and Keller and Leona Frinzi. Great-grandfather of Samuel and Liam Cheever and Avery and Brynn Hall. Dear brother of Natalie Schneider and the late Thomas (Lois) Frinzi, Rosalia (Joseph) DiMattina, Mary (Joseph) Glorioso, and Dominic (Sadie) Frinzi. Survived by other relatives and friends in the U.S. and in Sicily. Joseph learned the meat and grocery business from his father and continued to operate the family business, Frinzi Food Market on Broadway and North Water, after his father became ill in 1936. In 1956, Joe and Pat purchased the store on Murray and Locust and successfully ran Frinzi Finer Foods until they retired in 1989. Joe was especially noted for his quality meats, homemade Italian sausage, exceptional customer service, and generosity. Joe and Pat, along with their family, delivered groceries and meat to customers throughout the East Side. In retirement, Joe and Pat enjoyed several trips to Italy and to his parents' home, Santo Stefano di Camastra in Sicily. He also enjoyed reading, woodworking, playing bocce at the Italian Community Center (ICC) and working on his properties on Murray Avenue. He was a proud member of the ICC, the Holy Crucifix Society, Saints Peter and Paul and Old St. Mary's parishes. Joe especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 4, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Milwaukee Catholic Home, St. Anne's Chapel, 2462 N. Prospect Ave., Milwaukee. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 5 at 9:00 AM at Old St. Mary's Catholic Church, corner of Broadway and Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee (you may use the bagged meters for parking). Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joseph's name may be made to Milwaukee Catholic Home, 2462 N. Prospect, 53211, Old St. Mary's Parish, 836 N. Broadway, 53202 or the Italian Community Center, 631 E. Chicago, 53202. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Michael Fetherston, the staff of Milwaukee Catholic Home, and VITAS Hospice for the exceptional care and love shown to both Joe and Pat.

Deepest sympathy to the Frinzi family. I so enjoyed visiting with your Mom and Dad when I visited my mother at the Milwaukee Catholic Home. They were such a loving couple. My mother enjoyed their friendship and the dry humor of your Dad. Pat would always laugh and smile that lovely expression she always wore. They shared memories of SS. Peter & Paul and the East side. Peace be to all of you.

Living and growing up across the street from "Frinzi's" store was and is a pleasant memory. Mr. and Mrs. Frinzi were always friendly and warm. As a neighborhood kid I developed friendships with the Frinzi children, especially Patti. I'm thinking of you all and sending you loving thoughts. Your Dad is now with your Mom where he always wanted to be. Love, Kay (Knickelbine) Fenico

He was a very special and caring person. We kids during those days in the 1970s loved to stop by the store (after getting out of St. Peter and Paul) to get snacks. He was a big supporter of the basketball team and his son (our coach) shared (like his father) with us real values about work, responsibility and caring for others---which you do not see today. Mr. Frinzi & family shared with me and a number of other St. Peter and Paul boys values that I still use today. May he rest in peace and God's blessing on the family.

My thoughts and prayers to the Frinzi family at this time of loss. If you grew up anywhere on the East side of Milwaukee, you knew Mr. Frinzi and the neighborhood store. My cousins Andrea and Joey Balestrieri lived on Murray Ave. and we were in and out of Frinzi's all the time! Thank you for being a blessing to all who came in contact with you, and for being a shining example of what it means to work hard to support your family. My childhod memories would not be complete without Frinzi's. Jennifer (Lanke) LeBron

The entire Vitucci family has very fond memories of Frinzi Family, the grocery store, and the neighborhood friendships. Our mom, Dorothy Vitucci was a former resident at the Milwaukee Catholic Home before her death in 2011 and hopefully your dad and her connected on some level. Our sincere condolences to your family. I am truly going to miss Uncle Joe but I take comfort in knowing he is once again with Auntie Pat. I'm so very sorry I couldn't be there but my prayers are with all of my cousins.

My deepest sympathies to the entire family during these difficult times.

I worked as a delivery boy and then as an apprentice meet cuter for Joe and Pat Frinzi between 1960 and 1965. I would have attended his services but did not become aware of his passing and his funeral until a day later. I also regret that I missed the funeral of his wife Pat. I knew their children Joe, Pat, Linda, Lorrie and John during that time and I offer my deepest respects and condolences to them. When I worked for Joe and Pat, some 50 years ago, they treated me like family ..Lenny Jurgensen

My condolences and prayers to your entire family. I lived down the block and remember going into the store as a child and always getting a kind word from one of your parents.

Later, in college, I roomed with John Frinzi, and fondly remember his trips home to get us sausage.

My sympathies to the entire Frinzi family at this sad time. You all have great memories to help you through this difficult time.

My condolences to a wonderful family that truly achieved the American Dream. I only know the "young" Joe who was the best vice-principal we ever had at HUHS (I'm a retired teacher of HUHS). My sympathy goes to the entire Frinzi family; it isn't easy losing a beloved member of a person's family.
