Thomas Michael Rowe M.D.

Rowe, Thomas Michael M.D. Age 60, of Sturgeon Bay, left us much too soon on May 5, 2011. He was born in Milwaukee on October 8, 1950, to Thomas V. Rowe and Ruth A. (Niers) Rowe. Tom graduated from Pius XI High School in 1968 and enlisted in the Navy in 1970. He served as a medical corpsman until discharge in 1974. Tom graduated from UWM in 1978 and the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1983. After a four year residency in Obstetrics / Gynecology, Tom practiced for four years in West Allis before moving to Door County in 1991, where he practiced until retirement. He was an awed witness/facilitator to God's miracle of birth thousands of times and a gifted surgeon and caring physician. He married Kathleen Slater on September 28, 1973, in Milwaukee. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kathy (Slater) Rowe; his wonderful children, Daniel (Kelly), Patrick (Kristen), Angela, and Thomas; his mother, Ruth Rowe; two grandchildren, Lydia and Landon; his brothers, Jeff (DeeDee) and Bob (Linda); brothers-in-law, Dennis (LuAnne) Slater and Bill (Kelly) Slater; sister-in-law, Debby Slater; step-father-in-law, Richard Wegner; and many nieces, nephews and friends. His yellow lab, Shandy, will miss her friend. Tom was known for his sharp wit, rare sense of humor, his political rants, and his wicked slice. Most of all, he loved and was very proud of his children and doted on his two grandchildren. Lydia especially will miss her silly Grandpa Rowe. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 9, 2011, at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church with Rev. Matthew R. Knapp officiating. Friends may call at the church from 4:00 PM until the time of services at 7:00 PM.
