William Reilly Obituary

Reilly, William F. Bill Reilly returned home on July 6, 2007 after a rich, rewarding life. Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret "Peggy" (nee O'Neill) Reilly, whom he married August 20, 1955, and their children Tom (Mary) Reilly, Kevin Reilly, Shawn Reilly, the honorable Paul (Kristin) Reilly, Kate (Bruce) Dawson, Dan (Renee) Reilly, Rosemary Reilly, Molly Reilly, Patrick O'Neill Reilly, Dr. Rudye King and family, Ingrid Daley and family, and Alberto Van Gurp and family. He is further survived by his brothers, Tim Reilly, Mike (Barb) Reilly, Pat (Jeanette) Reilly and his sister, Rosemary Rutte, grandchildren John, Maggie, Colin, Pierce, Ashley, Gena, Brynne, Isabelle, Cailyn, Morgan, Hannah, Robbie, Iseabal, Siusie, Liam, Gwen, Olivia, Sean, and Charlotte. Bill was born February 1, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduated with a degree in business in 1953 from UW-Madison and from Marquette University Law School in 1955. Bill was proud of his Irish heritage and was a dual citizen with the Republic of Ireland and a member of the Emerald Society and numerous other service organizations. Bill practiced law for over 50 years. Bill's greatest gift to the profession was his call for collegiality among the bar. Bill found no greater satisfaction than engaging in zealous and professional representation in the courtroom followed by a beer and a laugh with his opponent. Bill and Dick Hippenmeyer founded the Hippenmeyer & Reilly Law firm in the early 1960's. Their mentoring of young lawyers has resulted in the creation of numerous prominent law firms in Waukesha County. Bill was a member of the American College of Trial Attorneys, a Fellow of the Wisconsin Bar Foundation, past president of the Waukesha County Bar Association and past member of the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Wisconsin. Bill was recently honored by the Waukesha County Bar Association as its Distinguished Member. Bill's most enjoyable and rewarding association was being a member of the Four Nations for the past forty years. He will miss his friends at Merrill Hills, even the ppp gin players. Bill will forever be proud of the lessons he taught at Merrill Hills. Bill lived his personal, professional and family life with the maxim that happiness in life is defined by the friends one keeps. He treated his friends as family and his family as friends. Fr. Paul and Ody met Bill on the tee with a new set of clubs. A visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha. Private interment will take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. RANDLE-DABLE Funeral, Cremation and Preplanning Services (262) 547-4035 www.waukeshafunerals.com

Dear Reilly Family;

GodFather Reilly inspired me in uncountable ways, and serves as a role model for me in my life today. He made me a better person, teaching through his extraordinarly kind, endlessly gernerous, and bountifully joyful style. He will forever be present in my life as a beacon and lighthouse.

This man leaves a great legacy. The children he brought into this world and reared with flying colors are his best credits. He was a proud father and grandfather guiding all of his wonderful treasures to their outstanding accomplishments. No one can deny his worth and he leaves us having done his job well. We are all bigger and better for having rubbed shouders with him.

Dearest Mrs. Reilly and children. I am exceedingly saddened to hear of Mr. Reilly's passing. He meant so much to so many - particularly us homesick Virgin Islands college students who were so graciously welcomed into the family. I pray that memories of the very rich life you shared with him will sustain you during this very difficult time. God Bless you, Denise

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help at this time.
Bill was a good man. I had the privledge to meet him for the first time a couple months ago on the golf course with Patrick. 18 holes of golf gives you the opportunity to get to know some one real quick. In those couple of hours Bill made me feel like an old friend and shared some exciting stories with me. During our conversations you could see how important his family and friends were to him. I am thankful I had a chance to meet him and I know for those who have known him through out his life will miss him very much.

Dear Peggy and Family,

A loss after twenty years of friendship is hard to bear. The memories we want to remember are the ones that help us all through a time like this. Eg: "A BUCK CLOSEST TO THE PIN", " A BUCK FOR WHICH TREE THAT HAWK WILL LAND IN ON ELEVEN",DRIVING THE ENTIRE GOLF COURSE LOOKING FOR BILL'S WALLET AT HARBOR RIDGE, WALKING THROUGH WEST PALM AIR PORT WITH SLACKS TUCKED IN THOSE MEMORABLE WHITE SOCKS. And who can ever forget his N.Y. Times best seller "How To Play Gin" from his number one PPP, we will never forget Bill and hold him in our memories forever. There will always be a ball in for you on the first tee.

Our Sincerest Sympathies,
Len & Carole Jakus

PS. Bill when you see St. Peter make sure you tell him you got there in regulation.

Yet we rejoice and give thanks that you and Bill joined our family these past several years and brought so much depth, history and...FUN! We very much hope you will continue to carry the Hughes "flag" with and for all of us. Please convey our deepest sympathy to your children and grandchildren and know that you will be in our hearts and prayers in a very special way these next days. Dear Reilly Family,

We were so sorry to hear about Bill's death and wish you peace during these difficult days. Though we didn't see each other often, we always enjoyed running into Peg and Bill, especially at Irish Fest or St. Mary's. Ed Trecker and Bill paced the halls of Waukesha Memorial the same day awaiting the birth of their daughter, Molly and our daughter, Peggy. The girls became good friends at school and Peggy spent many happy hours with you Reillys. They are still great friends today. My children, Mike and Patti were in school with several Reillys as well and enjoyed their friendship. My sister, Marie, and Peggy went to High School together in Madison. The thing I remember most about Bill, and Peg, is that whenever I saw them....they had a smile. Thank you God for people who bring sunshine and a positive outlook on life to others.
