I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ron. Sincerest sympathies go to the Sweat family for their loss, which is shared by all of us who knew him. The class of '61 was quite a group. Sports championships, college scholarships, doctors, dentists, Vietnam veterans etc. Donnie and Ronnie, the “Sweat Boys”, were among my best friends in high school and college. My family moved to the Derby area in the late 40's and I became friends with the Sweats when the Air Force brought them to Derby during our high school years. My life path took me, as well many of the class of '61, away from Derby after high school. I was however able to keep up with Ron's “doings” through my mom and dad –who were close friends of Bill and Elsie and regulars at Daylight Donuts. Ron will be remembered.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain..
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

To the Sweat Family:

I am so saddened to learn of Ron's passing. My mother used to work for Ron many years ago at his donut business. Ron thought so much about my mother, as my mother did him. Ron always had a smile on his face.

I was about fourteen years old when my mother ask him if I could come to work for him on Saturdays and he said sure. I was so excited about working with my mother at his donut shop. You could have not ask for a better boss than Ron. He was always there for us.

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers, as Ron will be deeply missed.

Ron's Family
I was a friend to Ron when we were in the Air Guard together. We lost touch after that but Ron always had some humor to help things along when we were in Korea. All my sympathy. Ron was a friend and great guy to Me.

I remember Ron as a DHS Panther class of 1961. He was one of our outstanding football and basketball "boys". Ron had a quick wit and was always ready with a funny comeback when we were teasing each other. I am saddened by his passing and I send my deepest sympathy to his family.
