Stephen Reynolds Obituary

Stephen Reynolds
February 10, 1947 - March 30, 2020
Wellington , Kansas - Stephen "Steve" Lloyd Reynolds, 73, of Wellington Kansas was born to and later reunited with Martha Cherry (Whiteford) and adopted by Peggy and Dale Reynolds. Steve was born in Topeka, Kansas on February 10, 1947, and passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020, in Fayetteville, Arkansas with his family by his side.
Steve graduated from high school in El Monte, California. After high school, he joined and served in the United States Navy. Steve then completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Emporia State University and his Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Wichita State University. He also completed his licensure in addiction treatment. He devoted his career to serving the mental health needs of his community through his work as a Clinical Psychologist and Addictions Counselor. Steve worked with clients at Sedgwick County Department of Mental Health until 1994 and Sumner Mental Health Center from 1994 to 2017. Throughout Steve's career he also taught college courses and facilitated trainings for students and professionals of mental health. In 2015, Steve and his youngest daughter, Jennifer, started Full Circle Counseling Center in Wichita.
During high school and beyond Steve participated in a variety of long-distance running events. He also spent many years practicing and teaching martial arts. As he moved though his adult life, he was a student of more than one style of martial art seeking the strengths of each. He studied GoJu Ryu last earning the rank of Godan (5th Degree Black Belt) in 2018. Steve was a spiritual man, and his relationship to that which connects us all was of the utmost importance, whether that be with the trees or his fellow humans. He had a strength that all felt while in his presence.
Steve adored his family. He is survived by his son, Ty Reynolds of Lawrence, Kansas, and his daughters, Anne Reynolds of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Jennifer (Brandon) La Barge of Wichita, Kansas. He has three grandchildren, Torrin and Jonah of Wichita, Kansas and Spader Watts of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Steve will be missed. His quiet inspiration and ever-present willingness
to help others, especially with psychological studies, will long be remembered. He was the first jail psychologist to work for Sedgwick
County and brought with him empathy and compassion.

Well done, here and in the beyond Amigo.
