David Gordon Obituary

11/20/1928 - 3/2/2008 Born in Monroe, MI, on November 20, 1928, David Morse Gordon, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on March 2, 2008, after a prolonged illness. A graduate of Michigan State University with coursework in Hotel Administration at Cornell, David began a career as a country club manager when he joined the Club Managers Association of America in 1954, after serving two years in the U.S. Army. In four decades managing clubs in the northeast and Midwest, he hosted a wide variety of functions for prominent figures in business, politics and the arts. As a club director, he supervised a recreational swimming program for handicapped youth. David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Minette; his son Adam, of Boston, MA; his sister Dorothy Goldberg of Marlton, NJ; his brother Ted Gordon of Toledo, OH; his nephew Ted Goldberg of Arlington Heights, IL; and his nieces Ellen Shapiro of Marlton NJ; Paula Rutstein of Israel; Faye Lybeck of Bloomfield Hills, MI; Terry Beth Moore of Toledo, OH and Pam Nelson of Maryland. David had been affected by Alzheimer's disease since 2000 and it is requested that any donations be given to the Alzheimer's Association, available at (www.alz.org). Funeral services will be held in Kansas City, MO at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave., at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, and there will be a burial ceremony at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery, Sharon, MA.
