Deborah Cheatham Obituary

Deborah Lynn Cheatham, age 49, passed away on September 16, 2004, at her home after a valiant fight with ALS. Funeral services will be Monday, September 20, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit, burial in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Visitation will be Sunday, September 19, 2004, from 2-4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association, Keith Worthington Chapter, 8340 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, KS 66206, or First Bible Baptist Church, 1441 S.E. Adams Dairy Parkway, Blue Springs, MO 64014. Mrs. Cheatham was born October 16, 1954, in Lincoln, NE. She was an employee of the United States Government for 25 years, 15 years of which was service with the United States Custom Service/Department of Homeland Security. She graduated from Raytown South High School in 1972. She attended First Bible Baptist Church. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, cooking, gardening, crafts and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, James. L. Cheatham; a son, Douglas Cheatham of Blue Springs; a daughter, Jamie Burkett of Grain Valley; four grandchildren; and a sister, Stephanie King of Calhoun, KY. My prayers and condolences to the Cheatham family for their loss of such a wonderful person. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Deborah on several Customs issues. She was always a gift when we spoke and what a treat to share her excitement and experiences. I will miss her.

Although I never had the priviledge of meeting Mrs. Cheatham, I know from listening to Jim and knowing what a good man Jim is, that she was an amazing woman.
