I miss you my son! Marley is with you now.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep.

Derrick went the way that we have to go. It is appointed unto man once to die (Heb 9:27). My prayer is that as we had time to share with Derrick in both life and death, that his passing won't be in vain. Let his life be an encouragement to all who knew him to put their trust and hope in God. We can have the true peace that many spoke of concerning Derrick, when we know the true grace of the Holy God of Heaven.

To our angel in heaven who's quiet and gentle kindness made him our angel on earth. What an example you were and inspiration you are now to the simply good things we all strive to be. You'll live forever in our hearts.

Dear Derrick: I never knew you as a young adult but oh how I remember you and your baby sister running around the CFAO in Hawaii. You were a joy to all then and now. You will be missed so much but God needed you to look after your grandparents and make a place for all of us. Aloha dear child and god be with you and yours...Mari

We will always remember Derrick as a handsome and wonderful young man, who lived briefly but with extraordinary courage and grace. He was loved and cherished by his mother, father and family on earth. Your absence from this life is painful for your family, but your spirit remains forever. You are now with the Father of us all, free from pain and at peace. We will miss your special presence among us, but know that your life has just begun.
