Prairie Village, Kansas - Gloria was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Beverly Hills, California, where she attended Beverly Hills High School.
When WWII came, she volunteered in the Women's Army Ambulance Corp., from 1942 through 1943. Later she served as a Junior Air Raid Warden and joined the USO service clubs. A bronze plaque dedicated to her and 30 other women from Beverly Hills High was dedicated in 1995 by the U.S. Army Brigadier General David C. Henley and the Western Historical Society.
Gloria volunteered at both the former and current Menorah Medical Centers for 14 years.
She and her husband, Allen J. Block, of blessed memory, formed the Allen J. and Gloria L. Block Family Foundation and donated to many different causes, including the University of Kansas Medical Center's Navigator Nurses program in the Oncology Department.
She was an ardent traveler and for many years worked as a travel agent. She had visited all seven continents and spent more nights at sea than most sailors, having completed over 75 cruises.
She is survived by her sons Stephen (Suzanne), Kenneth (Lisa) and Michael (Kerry Cosner), eight grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
