Overland Park, Kansas - After battling with cancer, Janet Patricia Riley, affectionately known as "Trish", died on June 26, 2023, at the age of 61. She leaves behind her husband, Dennis Riley; and her daughter, Kristin Riley.
Trish was born on July 27, 1961 in Kansas City, MO, to father George Shore and mother Janet Shore. She grew up in an active and loving family with three sisters and one brother. Trish attended Peachtree High School, in Dunwoody, Georgia; before moving back to Kansas City, where she graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School. She then attended Spring Hill College, in Mobile Alabama, before transferring to the University of Florida, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism in 1983.
Trish moved back to Kansas City a few years after graduation, where she met Dennis Riley and they wed on July 10, 1999. They had their daughter, Kristin, on December 6, 2000.
The funeral service will be held on July 12, 2023, at the Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66213. The visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and a 10:00 AM mass to follow. A celebration of life will be held at the Barley's on 119th and Quivira Road directly following the funeral service; all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The University of Kansas Cancer Center.
