LINDA ARMSTRONG Obituary

LINDA LOU FRIZZELL ARMSTRONG Linda Frizzell Armstrong, 69, Overland Park, passed away June 5, 2015, after a long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born May 7, 1946, in Chillicothe, Mo., and grew up near Washington, Mo. Linda moved to Kansas City after high school and worked as a secretary at Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company and was also an early member and retiree of the Sprint Corporation, all the while raising a family on her own. She was a strong woman who lived both an independent life while at the same time surrounded and supported by her extensive family. Linda's strength, quick wit and generosity were evident during her volunteer efforts at the MS Society, which started long before her own symptoms and eventual diagnosis. A fiercely independent and stubborn woman, she adapted to life as it placed increasing demands upon her. Of course, Nutella, Propel, iced tea and her sister Judy's lemon bars helped to fuel her ability to endure. Indian Creek Health Center became her second family and helped to make her room become a home. Despite her inability to travel, she always enjoyed countless visits from friends and family, photos and the exploits of her grandchildren, which were her pride and joy. A first-time visitor to her room could very quickly survey the walls to determine the identities of the grandkids and tell the importance of family. While her physical presence cannot be replaced and leaves a vacancy for family and friends, her passing is also a liberation from her physical constraints and should be celebrated as such. Linda was preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Marian Frizzell; sister, Judy Arnold; and sister, Nancy Malia and her son, Thomas Armstrong. She is survived by daughter, Molly Skelsey (Kevin); brother, Jim Frizzell (Mary); sister, Pat Bruns; and three grandchildren, Ella, Nolan and Charlotte Skelsey. A funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kan. A visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, also at the chapel. Cremation will follow the service. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.johnsoncountychapel.com The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Indian Creek Health Care, friends and family who have been with her through her courageous battle. The family suggests contributions to The Mid-America Chapter of the MS Society. Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 913-451-1860, www.johnsoncountychapel.com

I have known and regularly visited with Linda and her family since March 2001 when my mom Alice first became a resident of Indian Creek. She so kindly befriended and helped my mom during the three years she lived there. I have continued to volunteer in the activities department and strengthened my friendship with Linda. I will very much miss seeing her but will always have the fondest memories.

I am an old neighbor of Linda's. I am so sorry. She had suffered a long time, but she was very brave through it all. God Bless you Linda, you now are whole and with our Lord.
