MARION "PETE" BYBEE

Marion "Pete" Bybee, 91, of Raymore, Mo., passed away October 5, 2010, at Research Medical Center. He was born Nov. 2, 1918, to Johnny and Ruby Bybee, in Brownington, Mo. He graduated from Lathrop Vocational High School in Kansas City. Pete entered the Army in the fall of 1941, just days before Pearl Harbor. He served in Europe in the Third Armored Division until August 1945. During his service, he saw action in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge and into Germany. There he was in the forward companies which liberated two Nazi death camps. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery for stringing communication lines under enemy fire. Pete worked for the Kansas City Power and Light Company from 1946- 1980. He and his wife, Dorothy, moved to Raymore in 1972, where he served as municipal judge there from 1976-1980. He was also a Mason. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Davis and husband Bob of Overland Park; granddaughter, Kimberly Hoffman and husband Bob and great granddaughters, Linden and Morgan, all of Leawood. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
