Rene' Clary Obituary

Rene' Clary of Merriam, KS, formerly of Los Angles, CA, passed away August 25, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, in the Romero Chapel of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 West 75th St., Shawnee, KS. The family requests memorials to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS, 66212 or Cancer Action, 1831 Minnesota Ave., KCKS. In lieu of flowers. Rene' was born April 25, 1931, Regina Ruth Jane Hampton. She grew up in New Jersey, graduating from Merchantville High School. She was a dancer and ballerina. She performed with the Philadelphia Civic Ballet and the NY City Rockettes. In 1952, Rene' was crowned "Miss New Jersey" and later became a finalist in the "Miss USA" pageant. She had over 40 pageant titles to her credit She went to Hollywood and pursued an acting career. Rene' starred in several movies, including "Law and Order," "Richochet Romance," and "The Glenn Miller Story." Rene' moved to Kansas in 1999. she always enjoyed the theater, dance and movies. Her final role was that of an adoring grandmother to her three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, and a son, Byron Palmer, Jr. She is survived by her son, Gregory Hampton Palmer and his wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Austin Claire, Blake Elisabeth, and Carson Hampton Palmer; extended family and friends.
