I had the honor of serving with Bill in the Air Force, and developed a deep respect for him. While we slowly lost touch over the past 20 years, I have always considered him a friend and a mentor. Bill, I thank you for your service to our country and for being my friend. God bless, and may you rest in peace.

I am so glad that I really got to know you .The late nights when your Mom and Lois went
to bed, how you and me sat and talked about the Lord and family, friends and our
Grand children. What a blessing it was to have someone with knowledge and a heart of gold that understood .I always looked forward to picking you up at the airport.and the ride back to our home, catching up on time lost, since your last visit..
You will be missed,,a brother-in-law and friend I always held close to my heart.
I was the one who was blessed for having you in my life .LOVE YOU

Bill is my dad. That will not change because he is gone. He is not a was or past tense. We will keep him alive in our memories.
He is the dad that didn't have to be. He didn't just fall in love and marry my mother. As a small child I was confused and didn't understand that. I rebelled as a teenager and pushed him away. He continued to hold on and love me when I was unlovable. His unconditional love surprised me and eventually won me over. If he had not held on the way he had I may never have felt any self worth. He showed me I was loved and special and now I know I am. I will always be grateful for his love.
I am thankful for the time my girls were able to have with him. I wish it could have been more but feel peace knowing God's Will was completed in his life. I will always love you Bill!!

My Brother,
I don't think alot of people know how much my brother had in common. We were born in the same year,(1948). We went to kendergarten together, we cried in the hallway together, because we were late for class. Two little 5 year old's afraid of being late for class. We cried together in the hallway, that was kindergarten! Can you imagine that? Well, we went through good times & bad, but I can not believe, with all we went through, you are gone, and I'm still here. We had a very special bond. I will love you forever..

My uncle Bill was always making us laugh, especially when we didn't want to. He loved teasing us, and thats what made us love him. It's hard for me to think that ill never see him again, it doesn't feel real, but i know he's in a better place watching over us.
I love & miss you uncle Bill.

I am so sorry to read of Bill's passing. We had a short period of e-mail contact as he was leaving Verizon (MCI), But my fondest memories of Bill were the Air Force days in the late 70's early 80's when we flew as crewmembers on the E4-A and E4-B Command post aircraft. We were neighbors, so at 3 or 4 am, I would drive to his house, pick him up, and drive to Offutt to serve our "alert" tour. These memories are so vivid. Bill was a mentor in the Air Force, and a friend at MCI. He will be missed. May God Bless his Family.

I had many fond and happy memories with Bill when we served in the USAF together. Bill and I flew many hours on the E-4 Nightwatch Aircraft and visited many distant places as crew members. We both loved country and western dancing back in the day and that experience has given me many great memories with Bill as well. We had a lot of good times together. He was a good friend and I will miss him. My condolences to the family of my friend Bill.

I met Bill Ott for the first time on May 31, 1994…how do I recall the date you may ask? If you had the privilege to work with him as I have, you would understand why. Now back in those days, I and a lot of others may have not used the word “privilege” to describe working with him…but as we grew in our communication careers we came to understand his drive and attention to detail.
Please allow me the liberty to tell a story that indirectly involves Bill as I never knew him not to enjoy telling one. I was still new at MCI (OMJ) and working the four to Midnight shift with a senior member of the Maintenance team. I was working a trouble ticket and had to go into MUX room and as I walked by Bill’s desk, I saw a silver box on display. I stopped what I was doing and took a second to read the inscription on it…”little box, loud noise”. It was a parting gift from the E-4 shop that he was in when he retired from the USAF. Now, there was nothing on the box except the inscription on a plate from his unit and a button…”What in the world?” I asked myself…so I pushed the button.
I found out later that it had a battery and a stall klaxon from aircraft…for those of you that may not be familiar with a stall warning klaxon; it makes an EXTREMELY LOUD noise when an airplane is getting ready to enter a stall. After I picked myself up off the floor, I gleefully snuck back into the Maintenance room and got real close to Steve Nobel’s desk and pushed the button again…it was the one and only time I ever heard Steve cuss.
As I continued to work for MCI and cross paths with Bill, I understood the inscription…especially the day he found me working on a M13 with out my ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) strap on.
My career in Telecom has benefited from working with Bill and I will never forget the lessons that I have learned from him…God’s speed my friend.
Respectfully,
Joseph Augeri

I have never been much of a writer but Bill and I would comminicate using Emails this way we could stay in touch. This past summer I stopped by his apartment in Kansas City. We must have talked about the, E4 B President support aircraft, and the old days when we were flying and all of the fun hard times we had. I will miss Bill. He was a good person and Friend. We're so very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I have very fond memories of working with Bill at MCI, including when he came dressed for Halloween as an old lady; he played the part so well that no one knew for sure who it was. He and Nancy also introduced me to cats. I'd never had one before but watched their cat at my new house when they went on a trip. Our sincere condolences to Nancy, Jason and family.

Our family will miss Bill deeply. He was like part of our family. I meet Bill about three years ago in an Alpha class at Vineyard Church. We shared our joys and sorrows in our bible study and continued to go to bible study together for about a year. Bill loved working in the children ministry and helping me with communion at Vineyard. Bill talked to my mother almost everyday and was a wonderful man. He always helped others. He was a joy to be around. On the eve of his death, I was in class with Bill. I remember looking back at him, and he was smiling ear to ear. I will always remember the peace that was on his face.
Bill, I will miss you. I know that you will be at the gates of heaven when I arrive.

Bill and Nancy were our neighbors in Kansas City for a number of years. We missed them when they left the neighborhood. Both were willing to help us in any way possible and were always friendly. We were so sorry to hear of Bill's death and offer our thoughts and prayers to the family. Bob and Debby Irvin
