Donald Bozarth Obituary

MIDWAY – Donald Thomas Bozarth, 74, husband of the late Ann Weisenberger Bozarth, for over 53 years, died Fri., Mar. 24, 2006 at the Thomson Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore. Mr. Bozarth, a caring and loving father and friend, is survived by 1 son, Tom Bozarth of Midway, 1 daughter, Susan (Mrs. Mike) Lenzen of St. Louis, MO, a brother, Perry Bozarth and his wife Darlene of Lexington, and 2 grandchildren, Harry J. Lenzen III, and Sarah Lenzen. Other survivors include 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Bright and Mary Louise Martin and a brother-in-law, Phil Weisenberger. Don was the first all state football player at Lafayette High School and he walked on as a member of the U K Wildcat football team under Coach Bear Bryant during his freshman year. A U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he returned from service to work with his father at the family business, Central Welding Supplies. He became an insurance agent and developed Bozarth Insurance Agency in Midway and later worked for the Kentucky Department of Insurance. He was a member of Broadway Christian Church, a Mason and member of the Oleika Shrine Temple, and shrine circus chairman for many years. Funeral services will be 11 am, Mon., Mar. 27 at the Midway United Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at the Midway Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brereton Jones, Al Schooler, Mac Weisenberger, Roy Walton, Jimmy Whelan, and Steve Meilinger. Friends may call from 2 - 5 pm, Sun. at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials are suggested to the Midway Nursing Home Task Force, P. O. Box 3964, Midway, KY 40347. My deepest sympathy to Don's family Perhaps you didn't know that Don taped my jazz shows on radio WLAP-FM back in the sixties. A mutual admiration relationship ensued. Lexington will miss him.
