Mabel Evans Obituary

EVANS, Mabel, went home to her Lord Jesus on Sat., August 7, 2004. She was born June 10, 1917 at Malone, KY, to Festus and Myrtle Jones Havens. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Everett Lee Evans. She is survived by her son, Larry Scott Evans (Ella Rae) of Malone; her daughter, Frankie Harvener (James) of Lexington; two grandsons, Barry Ray Evans (Diana) of Malone and Larry Scott Evans II (Tracee) of Houston, TX; six great grandchildren, Sean Hunter, Dylan, Rhiannon and Raven Evans and Erin Luebke; two step grandchildren, Karen Aicklen (Don) and Ken Harvener (Hope); five step great grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, and John Aicklen and Charlie and Jamie Harvener; three sisters-in-law, Opsie Nickell, Beulah Evans both of Malone, and Joyce Evans of Lexington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mabel was a Christian all her life, worshipped at Primitive Baptist, Index Community, and St. John's Lutheran Church in Lexington. Mabel was the treasurer for the South Fork Cemetery fund for a number of years. She was active in her churches and generous and loving to her family and many friends. Funeral Tues., 11 am, Potter Funeral Home, West Liberty. Visitation Mon., 3 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials suggested to the Best Friends Day Care Center, via the Alzheimer's Association, Greater KY Southern IN Chapter, at 836 Euclid Ave., Suite 322, Lexington, KY 40502 or the Shrine Hospital at 1900 Richmond Rd., Lexington, KY 40502. Frankie, you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers. I thank God that Mabel is free and whole and at peace. I hope you are taking comfort in knowing that you were there for her in every way.

My granddaughter and I are the Friday pianists for the Best Friends Day Care Center. We will miss Mabel.
