Melvin Smyth

SMYTH Melvin L., 83, of Richmond, KY, husband of the late Dean B. Smyth, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at his home. He was a son of the late Randa M. and Roxie Combs Smyth; a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Canal Zone during the Korean War and retired in 1989 from General Telephone after 42 years of service. Melvin is survived by his daughters, Martha Smyth Carrington (Mel) and Suzanne Armstrong-Smyth (Ed); his grandchildren, Jennifer Fowler (John), Kelly Gabbard (Chad), Lori Armstrong, Adam Carrington (Venessa), Sara Carrington and Eddie Armstrong-Smyth; great grandchildren, Bailey Fowler, Rachael Brown, Caden Shrider, Shelby Brown, Kennedy Fowler, Addison Fowler and Dominick Carrington. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors from Richmond and Lexington also survive. Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie Barnett, Nettie Loraine Smyth, Dorothy Noland, Lois Brandenburg and brothers, Emmitt, Coral, John, Franklin Delano and Wayne Smyth. Services will be at 12 noon Tuesday, July 9 at Kerr Brothers-East Main with burial following in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8pm Monday at the funeral home.
