James Vineyard Obituary
Blaine, TN
James Preston Vineyard, Sr.-- age 85 of Blaine, TN, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Holston Health Care. Jim was a 1955 graduate of UT College of Engineering. He was in the co-op program while at UT with TVA Construction. After graduation, he worked for the Navy Department, Bureau of Ships as a Naval Architect in aircraft carrier design for several years before returning to TVA as a Design Civil Engineer. He retired after 27 years as a Manager of Nuclear Design.
He was a faithful member of Alice Bell Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of American Angus Association, raising Angus cattle on his ancestral farm.
Preceded in death by his parents, Rodrick and Anna Nance Vineyard and younger brother, Billy Vineyard.
Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Johnnie Lou McGinnis Vineyard; son, James Preston, Jr. (Angela) of Blaine, TN; daughter, Julia Ann Vineyard Dillivan (Lee) of Mars Hill, NC; grandchildren, Preston Tyler Vineyard (Lora) of Blaine and Amelia Grace Dillivan of Mars Hill, NC; sister, Barbara Martin and her daughter Karen of Murfreesboro, TN.
The family wants to thank caregiver Fay Davis for her care and love.
The family will receive friends, 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 1 at Alice Bell Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Richard Spencer officiating.
Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service and interment.
