Lisa McMahan Obituary

Lisa Faye McMahan

Knoxville, TN

Lisa Faye McMahan, 56, of Farragut, Tennessee and formerly of Sevierville, Tennessee, passed away suddenly on September 12, 2018. She was a graduate of Draughon Junior College of Business in Knoxville, Tennessee. Lisa was an entrepreneur, establishing a business named Dee's Treasure Chest in honor of her maternal grandfather, Paul Collins, whose nickname was "Dee." She sold jewelry, novelty items, and home interior/exterior decor. Lisa had a great love for the Smoky Mountains. She enjoyed hiking amid the natural splendor, and was a strong supporter of the Friends of the Smokies. Lisa also had a heart for children. She sponsored 4-H Club members' participation in summer camps, raised funds for a boy's trip to Disney World, and enjoyed fun-filled adventures with other young friends she met during her life's journey. She was an active volunteer, helping at numerous charity golf tournaments, marathons, and events associated with religious and non-profit organizations. Lisa was devoted to her pets, especially her dogs Jinx and Chesney, whose name offers a clue about one type of music she loved. She also enjoyed contemporary R&B, with Mary J. Blige being a particular favorite. Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Lee McMahan; infant sister, Ophelia; brother, Joseph Paul McMahan; paternal grandparents, Odie and Henrietta McMahan; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Ophelia Collins. She is survived by her devoted mother, Betty McMahan; sister, Tammy McMahan and brother-in-law, Anthony Allison; sister-in-law, Phyllis McMahan; nephews, Jermaine Chandler, Isaac McMahan, and Joseph Quentin McMahan; uncle, Robert McMahan and wife, Rosemary; cousins, Maya McMahan and Zaria Chandler; and many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, 118 East Main Street, Sevierville, Tennessee. A celebration of life will follow at 7 p.m., with Bishop Zack Flack officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Friends of the Smokies, friendsofthesmokies.org, or New Salem Renovation Task Force, P.O. Box 53134, Knoxville, TN 37950. I just heard about Lisa's passing. I am heartbroken. I worked with Lisa at Y-12 and X-10. We always kept in touch with each other as much as possible after she left. She would come and visit my Mother when she was out in her area of town. I loved her beautiful smile and her sweet caring ways. She will be missed.

I worked with Lisa at Rentenbach Constructors in the 80s and she stayed in touch with me all through the years. Lisa was so full of life and had such a positive and lovely spirit. It was a joy to call her a friend. My sympathies to all family and friends.
