Lorenso Gonzalez Obituary
Passed away peacefully Friday, September 27, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Lorenso was born in El Paso, Texas on August 22, 1921 to Pedro J. and Maria Gonzalez. As a child his family moved to Los Angeles where he met the love of his life and future bride Socorro Salas (soon to be Gonzalez) and they were married for 74 years. Lorenso was part of "The Greatest Generation". He enlisted in the Army and was shipped off to Europe during World War II.
After the war the family moved to Van Nuys where Lorenso and Socorro raised eight children. He was a retiree from the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and leaves behind a legacy of 6 children, 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Lorenso was a quiet man with a passion for music and woodworking, and though we are sad at his passing we are happy to have been a part of his life. Our dad was a good man and a good role model and he will be missed. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia; and is survived by his wife of 74 years, Socorro; daughters, Kathy Battraw, Margie Chivers and Larrianne Hilditch; sons, Larry Gonzalez and Danny Gonzalez; grandsons ,John Russo and Steve Russo.
Viewing from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and Service at noon, on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Utter McKinley San Fernando Mission Mortuary. Burial to follow at San Fernando Mission Cemtery. The family has requested in lieu of flowers a donation in his name be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research www.michaeljfox.org UTTER McKINLEY SAN FERNANDO MISSION MORTUARY
