ROBERT WOOLLEY Obituary

ROBERT LEE WOO LLEY, JR. Jan. 24, 1916 - Nov. 1, 2009 Robert Lee Woolley Jr., 93, passed away peacefully under hospice care at his home in Woodland Hills, California on November 1st due to complications related to prostate cancer. Robert was born and raised in Marlow, Oklahoma. He was the eighth of eleven children born to Robert Lee Woolley Sr. and Cordella Woolley; eight boys and three girls. He married Mae Edith West in 1936 and they had three children, all of whom are still living. Robert and Edith moved to Los Angeles in 1937 during the Great Depression. They lived briefly in Rosemead and then settled in Woodland Hills where Robert enjoyed a long career as a master machinist at Rocketdyne and Edith operated a small florist business. They had been married 69 years when Edith passed away in 2005 after a long fight with cancer. At the time of his death Robert was a member of Reseda Baptist Church and active in the Galileans seniors group. Robert loved shooting pool, playing dominoes, watching old movi es and eating ice cream. Robert is survived by one brother Gene (Billie) Woolley; his only son William (Martha) Woolley, his two daughters, Reba (Lee) Schulz, and Juaneil Ellsworth; eight grandchildren Ronna (William) Godfrey, Thomas (Kimberly) Ellsworth, Roger Thompson, Matthew Ellsworth, Steven (Christine) Thompson, Linda (Glenn) Nelson, Robert (Julie) Woolley, and John (Patricia) Woolley; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Memorial Pa rk, in Chatsworth, California, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 7th. Robert will be interred next to Edith. It was Robert's wish that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Vitas Hospice, 16830 Ventura Blvd., Encino, CA 91436 (www.vitascharityfund.org).

I will remember Uncle R.L. cheerful nature and generous spirit... I've just noted his reputation for scooping up what must of been his favorite desert. This explains all those good times my family enjoyed having ice cream at the Woodland Woolleys! -Rick Millikan
