Myrna J. Kangas

Kangas, Myrna J. Age 72, of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at her home in Iron River, Wisconsin. She was born October 20, 1939 in Ironwood, Michigan, the daughter of Fritz and Evelyn (Johnson) Anderson. Myrna was a 1957 graduate of L. L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Michigan. She married Donald Kangas on June 28, 1958 in Waukegan, Illinois. The couple lived in Waukegan for over 30 years and they have been part time residents of Iron River, Wisconsin, since 1987. Myrna was the secretary to the president of American National Bank in Waukegan, Illinois, for over 20 years. She was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing in the local golf leagues. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting and traveling with her husband. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waukegan and attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iron River, Wisconsin. She is survived by her husband, Donald Kangas of Waukegan; two daughters, Kimberly Kangas and Kristine Payne of Waukegan; two grandchildren, Brian Kangas and Lindsay Payne; a brother, Gerald (Percie) Anderson of Escanaba, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Raymond Snow. As Myrna was a long time resident of Waukegan, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waukegan, Illinois with Pastor Brad Davick officiating. A memorial service was held on September 11 in Iron River, Wisconsin where they reside during the summer months. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 824 N.
