Veronica "Rocky "Elaine Grigger Jackson was born October 3, 1963, in Lake City, Florida to the late Virgiree "Tippy" Cray and Johnnie Grigger, Jr. She was the fourth of five children born to this union. Two siblings and her mother preceded her in death. Veronica answered the Master's call on July 28, 2021. As a child, along with her mother, Veronica attended Allen Chapel AME Church, Wellborn, Florida. In adulthood, she joined Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor I. L. Williams, serving faithfully as an Usher and occasionally read the announcements. Veronica was a graduate of Suwannee High School in Live Oak, Florida, and later earned certification as a CNA at the Vocational-Technical School, Live Oak, Florida, she furthered her education at Lake City Community College (Gateway College), where she earned her LPN licensure. Veronica was employed as a CNA at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lake City and later as an LPN there. She was also employed with the State of Florida, Columbia County Health Department for over 15 years, and school nurse at Ft. White Elementary for 7 years. She was currently employed with the Suwannee Correctional Institution as an LPN, working side by side with her daughter.
Loving and devoted memories are left with her daughters, Sheena Jones, Shanandria Green, both of Lake City, FL; sons, Shelton Cason, Orlando, FL, and Charles Jackson, Frostproof, FL; father, Johnnie Grigger, Jr. Lake City, FL; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kimberly Robinson (Darryl), Virginia Beach, VA, Debbra Zanders, Lake City, FL; aunts, Betty Randell, Hazel Ford, both of Wellborn, FL, Lucille Crusaw (John), Betty Cray, Mary Pickett, Lake City, FL; sisters-in-law, Jose Jackson, Lake City, FL; Patricia Jackson, Gainesville, FL; brother-in-law, Oliver Jackson (Betty), Live Oak, FL; host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the staff of Suwannee Correctional Institute.
Graveside services for Veronica Jackson will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Philadelphia Memorial Garden Cemetery, 8406 SW CR 242A, Lake City, FL, Pastor I.L. Williams, Officiating.

I worked under her when I was CNA and every now and than to treat all of us at Baya she would cook us a big pot of her dirty rice. I wanted the recipe, she wouldn´t come off of it. Later on in life after I got my LPN, and received my RN her husband came in to my facility; and we were talking about old times and the dirty rice came back up. You know the next day; she brought us all in some and it was SO good. The reason I am just now positing this is because I went to look her up and message her and catch up & of course to get the recipe lol and a friend informed me she had passed. I want the family to know y´all are in my thoughts and I can´t believe I am just now learning about this! She was amazing woman; she was spicy and if something didn´t sit with her she would definitely address it than no side stepping. I learned so much from her and I loved her heart and spirit. Very sadden by this news. Praying for y´all.

I am still in shock and disbelief. Veronica and I had a very special connection but somehow we never got the chance to connect physically because of our schedules. This is very hard for me because I found out accidently... But i will surely miss my trusted friend. And GOD BLESS her family!
