Jean Theo Foong Wong Perry, of Long Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was 96 years, 7 months and 6 days old. Every day she was alive counted and she was proud of it. She was born on December 10, 1927 in Duluth, MN to Marie and Harry Wong.
Jean graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1945. She then went on to Nursing School at St. Scholastica and later received her diploma from Abbott School of Nursing in 1951. Jean was a nurse at Methodist Hospital for 31 years. She worked in the maternity unit taking care of the mothers. She met her husband, Minnow, in 1948 at Coyne's in Long Lake (now Birch's). It was love at first sight. They got married January 15, 1949 and started their life together in Long Lake. They built the house, she still lived in until recently, in 1951 and raised their three children there. In 1965, Jean, Minnow and their family built Perry's Truck Repair & Welding, which is still family owned and operated today.
Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and was so proud of all of them. She was very active and participated in many clubs and activities at her church. She was always so well put together and had a remarkable memory. She truly was one of a kind.
Jean said, "I've lived a good life."
